Which Keurig Model You Should Buy | With Pictures
If you feel a little lost in the process of finding the perfect Keurig model for you, this article is the buyer’s guide that will match you up with the Keurig coffee maker that fits your needs.
From K-Classic to K-Duo to K-Slim to K-Slim Plus, there are a lot of options to choose from, so let’s get started!
Which Keurig Coffee Maker Model Should I Buy?
What is the Best Keurig for those on a Budget?
If you’re looking to grab a Keurig for the lowest price possible, you should check out the Keurig K-Mini for $77 on Amazon Here, or the K-Express for $79.99 on Amazon Here.
If you can’t decide between the two, I suggest the K-Express. It has three brew sizes (as opposed to the two on the K-mini), a 42-ounce water reservoir so you don’t have to refill with water every time you use it, and a “strong” brew button.
If you’re on a budget for a machine, you should also know about the cheapest K-Cup variety pack out there. It includes 80 coffee pods for $30 and is available on Amazon here.
The Keurig For Those Who Want a Pot of Coffee
If you’re making the Keurig transition but don’t want to leave drip coffee behind, I recommend checking out the K-Duo. It’s my personal favorite Keurig because it includes a single-serve K-Cup machine as well as a regular drip coffee maker. This allows you to make coffee for one or a large group depending on the situation.

Next up, the Keurig for those who want to make iced coffee…

What Keurig Models make Iced Coffee?
The Keurig models that have iced coffee capability include:
-
- The Keurig K-Elite
– - The Keurig K-Supreme (Including the K-Supreme Plus and K-supreme Smart)
– - The Keurig K-Slim + Iced
- The Keurig K-Elite
These five Keurig models have a brew over-ice feature that adjusts the brewing temperature to start the brew hot for full flavor extraction and then cool it down at the end of the cycle so that there’s less ice melt and more coffee flavor.
You can still make iced coffee with other Keurig models using the “Strong” brew button. This will help keep the flavor in the iced coffee/tea and slow down the watery dilution from ice.

Keurig Models with the “strong” brew button include:
-
- K-Duo
– - K-Cafe
– - K-Mini Plus
– - K-Select
- K-Duo
You can further improve the flavor of your Keurig iced coffee by using a K-Cup with strong flavor. My favorite K-cups to use for iced coffee are:

Cafe Bustelo Espresso Style K-Cup Coffee Pods (Tap Here to View on Amazon)
EXTRA ICED COFFEE TIP: Make coffee ice cubes in advance to keep your drink from getting watery as it warms up.
What Keurig Model Makes Lattes?
A latte can be made with any Keurig Machine simply by adding frothed milk to a strong Keurig brewed coffee. However, the Keurig K-Café and its budget version, the K-Latte, come with an attached automatic milk frother and a “latte shot” button to allow for easy latte creation.
The K-Café and K-Latte work with all Keurig K-cups and can be used to make regular coffee as well.
You can learn more about what features the K-Cafe has by viewing it on Amazon here.
Or View the K-Latte on Amazon here.
LATTE TIP: According to Food Network, the best types of milk for frothing and making lattes are the following order (in order):
1. Whole Milk
2. 2% Milk
3. Skim Milk
4. Oat Milk
5. Almond Milk
Next, the Best Keurig Model For Coffee Snobs…
If you’re someone with a finer taste who’s looking for the Keurig coffee machine that makes the best cup of joe possible, you’re probably going to want one of the newer Keurig models that include MultiStream technology.
Which Keurig Models Have MultiStream Technology?
The Keurig K-Supreme, K-supreme Plus, and K-Slim are currently the only Keurig models with MultiStream technology.
While most Keurig machines brew coffee by injecting water out of a single needle through the K-Cup, newer Keurig models with MultiStream technology use five needles to inject water through the K-Cup, extracting flavor from the coffee beans more evenly and according to Keurig, adding more flavor and aroma to every brew.
The new multi-needle system is popular among Amazon buyers. The K-Mini on Amazon is currently at 4.6/5 stars out of 50,000 reviews and the K-Supreme is at 4.4/5 stars on 15,000 reviews.
One reviewer says that “The quality of the coffee even with a less expensive store brand is SO good with the MultiStream technology.”
And another says “I think the multi-needle technology has really improved the flavor of the cup of Java.”
Next, the Keurig for those who like their Coffee Hot…
Which Keurig Model Makes the Hottest Coffee?
All Keurig models brew at 192 degrees Fahrenheit (88.9 C) because Keurig believes that this is “the optimal temperature for brewing coffee, tea, and hot cacao.” Some Keurig models have temperature control and can be adjusted to brew from 187-192 F (86.1-88.9 C).
According to the national coffee association, 195-205 Fahrenheit (90.6-96.1 C) is the optimal coffee brewing temperature. And coffee is usually served at around 160 Fahrenheit (71.1 C).
FUN FACT: The famous Mcdonald’s lawsuit coffee was served somewhere between 180-190 degrees Fahrenheit.
To achieve a hotter cup of Keurig Coffee, Keurig themselves recommends that you run a brew of water prior to using a K-cup in order to warm up both the machine and the mug that you’ll be drinking from.
Other options are to microwave or heat your coffee up on the stovetop, although this may alter its flavor.
My favorite way to keep my coffee hot is to drink it out of a thermos or heat-insulated water bottle. When I drink my java out of a mug I notice it cools off within ten minutes, whereas my thermos coffee stays warm half of the day.
I know drinking joe out of a mug is superior to any other method of consumption, but if hot coffee is what you’re after, a thermos will work best.
