How to Make a Dutch Bros Rebel at Home in 5 Mins or Less

dutch bros rebel recipe

A week ago I went to my cousin’s house in Oregon where I tried Dutch Bros for the first time.

Now that I’m back in Michigan (without any Dutch Bros Coffee shops) I’m trying to make the drinks at home!

Today we’re making the Dutch Bros Rebel.

A Dutch Bros Rebel can be made at home by combining a 12 oz can of Red Bull with ice and 6-8 tablespoons of your choice of flavored syrups.

This article will walk you through everything you need to know to make one yourself at home. Let’s get started!

What is a Dutch Bros Rebel

A “Rebel” is an iced drink that can be ordered at any Dutch Bros Coffee Shop. If you’ve never heard of Dutch Bros, it’s probably because there aren’t any locations near you.

Although Dutch Bros is the biggest privately held drive through coffee chain in the world, most of its locations are only in the western United States.

A Dutch Bros Rebel is a cold drink that combines flavored syrups, ice, and 1 can of Dutch Bros propriety energy drink, “Blue Rebel.” This creates a sweet drink that not only tastes great, but can also give you a burst of energy with 80mg of caffeine.

Now that you’re familiar with the Rebel, let’s talk about how you can make one at home!

Ingredients that you Need to Make a Dutch Bros Rebel

12oz Can of Sugar Free Red Bull

If you’re looking to make an as authentic Rebel as possible, you could go and get a few cans of Dutch Bro’s Blue Rebel Energy Drink. However because Blue Rebel is pretty hard to find, Red Bull will work fine as the two taste pretty much the exact same.

I guess that means a better name for our Dutch Bro’s Rebel is a Dutch Bros Redbull (I’ll be here all week)

I prefer to use sugar-free Redbull as opposed to regular to make my Rebels because we’re also going to be using high-sugar syrups in the drink and adding another 34g of sugar on top seems unnecessary. But it’s a free country so make your drink exactly how you’d like.

I personally want to be able to enjoy my Rebel without having the sugar crash of the century afterward.

Flavored Syrup

The other main ingredient of a Dutch Bros Rebel is flavored syrup. This is where making Rebels gets fun, because there are so many different flavors of syrups out there, and you can use whatever combo you want in your Rebel!

What Flavors of Syrup to Use

When deciding what combination of flavors to add to your Rebel, you can either copy the combos that Dutch Bros uses in their Rebels, or just make you’re own with whatever flavors sound good.

If you’re unsure about where to start, Torani sells some pretty great-tasting flavored syrups on Amazon. You can check out their Raspberry, Coconut, Strawberry, and Peach Variety Pack below, but you should also be able to find syrups at your local grocery store.

If you’re unsure about what flavor combos to start with, some of the most popular Rebel flavors at Dutch Bros are:

Aftershock: Starberry, Blackberry, Raspberry, Lime

Double Rainbro: Strawberry, Peach, Coconut

Electric Berry: Lime, Blue Raspberry

Peach

Shark Attack: Blue Raspberry, Coconut, Lime, Pomegranate Drizzle

AquaBerry: Strawberry, Kiwi, Blue Raspberry, Watermelon

Astronaut: Blackberry, Raspberry, Almond

Gummy Bear: Kiwi, Lime, White Chocolate

Dragon Slayer: Raspberry, Blue Raspberry, Blackberry Drizzle

Unicorn Blood: Strawberry, White Chocolate, Almond

How Much Syrup to Use in a Dutch Bros Rebel?

“How much syrup should I use,” you ask? Pretty much whatever you think tastes good. If you don’t add enough at first you can also mix in some extra at the end.

If you’re trying to make consistently good tasting Rebels, a tablespoon is the easiest way to measure the amount of syrup you use. Some syrup containers will have pumps on them, but the amount of syrup that each pump moves is different, so measuring the syrup with a tablespoon will be easiest.

If you’re looking for a number, I would say start with 6-8 tablespoons of syrup. So if you use a combination of 4 syrups that are 2 tablespoons each, and if you use 2 syrups that’s 4 tablespoons each.

Ice

The Rebel is a cold drink, so you’ll need some ice. The more ice you use, the more Rebel you’ll be able to make, it just won’t be as strong.

Blender (optional)

Dutch Bros makes their Rebels iced without a blender. However, I think that blending the Red Bull, syrup, and ice together to the consistency of a smoothie makes the drink better and more enjoyable to drink.
